Our Experience
Mr. R was excited to use his new tooth brushing chart. We are usually successful getting out teeth brushed in the evening, but tend to be sporadic in the mornings. This chart helped remind us of this task, even if some days it ended up being noon by the time we got it done.
As you can see Mr. R drew a frowny face on Tuesday morning just because he wanted to draw a funny face, not because he forgot to brush. I had a tough time also thinking of what to reward him with. I didn't want it to be too extravagant, but at the same time I wanted it to motivate him. He had been asking for several weeks to buy a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle hat he had seen while we were shopping. We decided that his reward would be that I would drive only him, without his brothers, to the store on this special errand. He still used his alliance money to buy it.
The one improvement that I would make is to have a way to keep the dry erase pen close to the chart, maybe with a couple pieces of velcro. I tried keeping it in the bathroom drawer but Mr. C found it so I ended up having to keep it in the medicine cabinet.
We are going to take turns using this so each boy will get his turn.
