My son had a lot of fun with this kit. At eight years old, Mr. O is at the perfect age for this kit. He was able to do it without a lot of supervision. We set him up and he was good to go. I thought it might take him a while to excavate the gems, but he was done in about 20 minutes. I think the gems were all close together so they were quick and easy to find. The gems were a good size and a lot of fun to examine. The activity book had good information and the puzzles were fun for him too. I felt it was a great way for him to spend the evening. Fun and education all wrapped together.
